Well, there's no help for it now. The end of the season is here. All opportunities to cast spells suspending time to keep us in a bubble of sunshine and warm weather have passed. We must plunge headlong into the frigid off season. We've got one last weekend together. Just one.
I hope each of you spend it in a way that brings you joy. Sit around one last campfire. Play a final card game in the lodge, a final round or horseshoes, or a final cornhole tournament. Gather for laughs or jam out to the band. Sniff one final Bingo Dabber....
We've put in place all the makings of a fantastic holiday weekend. Pumpkins are still available in the Lodge should anyone wish to come paint and decorate an offering to our Pumpkin Patch. You may retrieve your pumpkin at the end of the weekend if you wish. We will begin with a final 50/50 raffle and scavenger hunt. This 50/50 will run in conjunction with our Columbus Day weekend raffle. You deserve more than one opportunity at something great. So tickets will be on sale in the store for $1 and the scavenger hunt will be held at 5pm on Friday. Details for the scavenger hunt will be posted on the board outside of the store.
Our final weekend will not deter me from taking advantage of one final game night either. You may join us at 6pm in the Lodge with your favorite snack and beverage or beverages depending on the kind of night you intend to have. I quite enjoy everyone getting together but I suggest you not embark on a 5 hour game of Risk or you might miss a great show. Brenda Liimatainen will host one last Movie Under the Stars. I recommend blankets and pillows so you can be warm and comfy while snacking on fresh popcorn and enjoying a showing of Hocus Pocus.
If you'd like to sleep in on Saturday feel free to send the kiddos down to the Lodge. We will be crafting Halloween Masks at 10am. Then the fun really begins. Game #1 of Bingo Bonanza will be held at 11AM for Food Baskets. My apologies if some of you are forced to choose between Bingo Bonanza and Horseshoes. Game #2 will be at 3PM and this will be our Adult Only round of Boozy Bingo. Our final round will be Game #3 Cash Bingo at 7pm.
I'd like to insert a note here - I am working on a last minute surprise for Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately all the pieces are still falling into place so I don't want to officially announce it yet. I will say only that it is something that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Sunday will be another 10AM craft project for the kids. This one is a Glow-in-the-Dark project which are always my favorite. 11AM will be the Cornhole Tournament in the Lower Field. Perhaps take you meals early since Trick-or-Treating will be 5PM to 7PM. If you make the Lodge your final Trick-or-Treating stop I will happily raise your overall sugar content with a final 'Sundaes and Send-offs' Ice Cream Social. No need to contribute anything this time. We've got a pretty fast supply of tippings.
The Liquid Courage Band will be here for a final show from 5pm to 8pm. They will announcing all the raffle and contest winners at the end of their set. This will include the 50/50 Raffle. The Blackstone Raffle, the Electric Scooter Raffle, The site decorating contest and the costume contest.
I know I've probably said this so many times already but I have really enjoyed meeting you all and getting to know each of you and your families. I have learned a great deal about so many things. Many of you have made it a point to let me know that you have enjoyed your interactions with me or that you appreciate the time I have put into trying to bring you all a memorable season. I'd like to tip my hat to our maintenance team. I'm sure you will agree they took good care of us this season. Dawn was an absolute rockstar at the store. Mostly because she tolerated my neurotic mental state with a smile and was the even keel voice of reason. Lastly, I could not have done any of this without the guidance of Gaurav, AJ, and Shreyas. They have been the backbone of all my decisions and the fuel to all my greatest ideas. Yes, I'm so sad the season is over but only because I can't wait to show you what is in store for Peppermint Park in the future. Thank you for all your wonderful feedback, advice and advisement. Your patience and understanding. I'll not say Goodbye. Only see you soon and be well.
Regards,
