Hello Friends,
The days are ticking down. Leaves are beginning to change. Weather is cooling. Anyone else feel like it's all zipping by just way too fast? Never a good thing for the overly ambitious. There's so much I still want to do but I know before I can blink It will be time to focus on next season.
This week will begin our Painted Pumpkins Project. From Friday September 26th to Monday October 13th you can come and pick out a pumpkin. Paints and decorating supplies will be available at the Lodge. These pumpkins will be placed in our 'Pumpkin Patch' and displayed for everyone to see. The Pumpkin Patch will also serve as our backdrop for costume photos.
Friday will officially be our Game Night. Every Friday at 7pm The Lodge will be open for anyone who wants to play a game. Bring your Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, or Chess. Heck, any Dungeon Masters at the campground? We can go full D and D. We've got games here too so don't worry if your homestead Clue game didn't make the journey. You can use ours.
The Lodge is a great place to bring us together.
I know park attendance has been a little up and down these last few weeks with the kiddos back in school or at sports practice. Having an activity schedule with designated times just isn't going to work very well for moms and dads (and kids) that are dashing from one obligation to the next. Since I've got a stack of Halloween crafts ready to go we'll do something a little more accomodating. If the kiddos want to come to The Lodge at the designated time I will be here to lead the Kids Craft. I love hanging out with them and they keep me up to date on all the things my own kids will frown upon me not knowing. If it's easier for everyone to come see me for a 'Grab & Go' craft that they can take back to their campsite, I will provide you with everything you need but......I definitely want pictures. Half the fun for me is seeing how it all turns out.
Per the normal, there will be Horseshoes at noon at the NEW North Pits and Bingo at 3PM.
Saturday evening will bring our Chili Cook-off and Harvest Potluck. I couldn't let a whole season go by without a Chili Cook-off. Sign-ups are posted on the board outside the store. Just indicate how much milk and bread I need to bring by circling the appropriate number of chili peppers. Hopefully we'll have some Harvest Potluck foods to offset the heat or nourish those with a delicate stomach (me).
I will be doing the raffle drawing on Saturday at 6pm, during the Chili Cook-off and Harvest Potluck. There's still time to purchase tickets and will the Expert Grill - Portable Grill and Smoker package or the Handheld Retro Arcade and Treasure Check prizes.
I am still trying to nail down a DJ for this season but finding one whose schedule works with ours has proved difficult. I'm not giving up though.
Lastly, after much discussion we will be keeping with tradition and holding Trick-or Treating on the Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend.
Oh and anyone who thinks Bob Modena should definitely do our 3rd and final BINGO Bonanza should begin shouting it from the rooftops now.
Just not after 11PM. Quite hours and all.....
